[RFC] Payment Protocol & Namecoin

Post by phelix »

I wonder if it would be possible to use Namecoin IDs/names as certificate sources for the Bitcoin payment protocol?

Would be interesting - one could simply "signmessage" with the name's address or a signer address. Not sure how to get this into the payment protocol, though. Any ideas who to talk to and how exactly to do that?

He says it would be possible in theory but he thinks it would be difficult to gain support from wallet authors.

So what probably would be better and easier was to integrate the payment protocol into Namecoin. Not based on authoritaihs but on names.
