Why not increase the limit to just the originally proposed 1,000 bytes, essentially doubling the current size... and write up a document on how to easily increase it to 2,000 bytes in the future if required due to popular demand?

Re: [ANN] Namecoin v0.3.76
@phelix, fair enough, but what would that really change when it comes to problematic squatters anyways? Changing the GUI would only stop the meek from squatting a few namespaces. The big boys could and would easily register thousands of namespaces wherever they choose programatically if they really ...

Re: [ANN] Namecoin v0.3.76
Congratulations on another Namecoin release. I hate squatters as much as the next guy... but I have a problem with the following mindset of the dev team: (Squatters: leave the root namespace alone or we will change the UI such that names without namespace will use the id/ namespace :P). So basically...

Re: Official Facebook Page
I assume you're referring to "sudoquai's" https://www.facebook.com/Namecoin.org facebook page that he spams as often as possible via reddit and the trollbox? Yes, we definitely need a better/official namecoin facebook page that's filled with real information and not altcoin comics. I suggest you rea...

Re: Round-Robin Balancing Implementation Question
Web servers are fairly dumb. They respond to http requests. That's about it. There shouldn't be any inherent problems in loading various parts of a single website from different web servers. If the two web servers have different domain names then you get into TLS problems. But as for downloading var...

Re: Transitioning the web to Namecoin by addressing squatter
This would break the censorship-resistance and security guarantees of Namecoin since the "owner" of ICANN domains can be maliciously altered. And how is this proof of ownership supposed to work after it's in the blockchain? Let's say I mine a block myself, and include a fraudulent .com domain. Will...

I doubt many in the Namecoin development community are interested in gambling their Namecoins away but you never know.

Re: Name Systems Discussion: 30C3 - 30th CCC Congress
Wouldn't/shouldn't most people attending this conference already know about Namecoin?
Unless we had some new and interesting ideas to discuss, I don't know how interested they would be just to hear it exists.
Couldn't hurt to remind them all about us, though.

Re: Namecoins are destroyed... is this how it works?
I think it would be a bad idea to refund domain fees. In that case domain squatting wouldn't be appropriately discouraged. My opinion is that the miner should get the domain fee when the domain expires . This is better than giving it to miners on registration, as that would lead to free registratio...

Re: Namecoins are destroyed... is this how it works?
One of the ideas discussed for improved fee structure is to have the coins used to register a name be released after the name expires. If this is implemented, no additional coins would be lost. I think this idea is relatively popular (I definitely support it). I too would support this kind of funct...
